Do you have a favourite wedding?

This is hands-down one of the most common questions I get asked:

“You must experience so many beautiful moments and celebrations—do you have a favourite wedding?”


Cue the mental freeze. Suddenly, it’s like someone hit rewind on the highlight reel in my head at 5x speed. Total chaos! So I figured, instead of trying to explain it in a moment, why not write about it?

Truth is, every wedding I get to be part of holds a special place in my heart. Each one is unique, filled with its own kind love, way of thinking and doing. But if I had to pick one that always jumps to mind first, it would have to be the incredible wedding of my dear Robynne and Donn, tucked away in the scenic charm of Ficksburg, Free State, South Africa.


One of the absolute joys of this “job” (I say that in quotes because it really doesn't feel like work most days!) is getting to explore more of this beautiful country of ours and connect with amazing people from all over the world.



Getting to Ficksburg was a little adventure of its own— met up with one of my fav videographer duos https://www.newvinemedia.co.za/, grapped a coffee and hopped on a flight, rent a swifty , and navigate the classic South African obstacle course: potholes! But the excitement for the weekend ahead was real.


When we arrived, the skies were gloomy and we were treated to a classic “quick storm”—the kind where you’re soaked in seconds. Robynne, radiant as ever, gave us a warm tour of the farm and local community, even with the rain pouring down. After the little tour & meeting some of the family memebers, we headed over to Moolmanshoek (https://www.moolmanshoek.co.za/) and watched the wild horses run (something I can not quite put into words, especially being obsessed with Spirt as a little girl). It felt like we had stepped into our own version of Yellowstone meets Spirit—wide open spaces, rich emotion, and nature putting on a full display.




We crossed all fingers and toes hoping the skies would clear for Saturday’s big celebration. And let me tell you, so it did. Despite the weather's mood swings, the atmosphere was nothing short of amazing!


WEDDING SATURDAY




What really stood out? The people. The warmth. The hospitality. The deep connections— you could feel the love in every interaction (it was electric to say the least).

Robynne and Donn, thank you for reminding me what hope, strength, and shining your light looks like during life's challenges. Despite experiencing painful losses, they've found beautiful ways to honor their loved one's memories— through cherished photos and a touching tributes on their wedding day.


Thank you for welcoming us not just as vendors, but as long-lost friends, treated like guests in your home, wrapped in genuine kindness. Your wedding was a soulful, reminder of why I love what I do.
